President Robert Wilkinson, with only three more meetings to go, called the meeting to order.   Bruce Cathcart led the club in an instructional pledge of allegiance, and Corry Hunter gave us words of wisdom.

There were no visiting Rotarians (except for our speaker, Mark Weber).  Visiting us were Michelle, the US Bank manager and Gary (a guest of Andy Lorenz).  Gary has developed a new website called "".

Lunch today include a ginormous hamburger.  The other fare include the chicken cesar and “The Wedge”.

President Robert announced his own demotion party to be held Saturday night, June 29th from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the La Quinta Resort and Club.  Reservations are required and the price is $50 per person.  Contact David Archer for further information.

This intrepid reporter was called to the podium to be thanked for the scholarship to Garrett, a La Quinta High graduate. The scholarship was given in memory of my wife, Karen.  A framed thank you was presented.

An update was given on our friend, Tom McDermott, who is recovering from a major illness.  Tom is having regular therapy and intends to be at next week's meeting.

Your contributions are now due for your Paul Harris pledges.  Dick Anderson, Foundation Chair, states that we all need to contribute ASAP in order to have 100% participation.

Cindy Hall, member extra-ordinaire, has left to be with her daughter in Virginia.

She will be missed...

Board Meeting - June 19th at Lee Osborne's office.

David Archer announced that he is working on a tree planting for Steve Robins in the Tree Grove.  Also in the works are a park adoption and signs for Rotary when entering La Quinta.

Doug Motz had his number pulled and was the winner of $5.

Allan Levin, our esteemed money raiser, auctioned off the fine free badge.  David Turner bought it, after spirited bidding, for $40.  Recognition fees were paid by Jimbo, Andy L., Bruce F, David A, Don A, Bruce U., Joe L, Mark Weber, Dick J, Corry H., Merv and Ed C. (who caught crabs in northern CA).  Also contributing were Doug M and Allan L.

Our former member, Mark Weber, gave a spirited presentation on The Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone.  Mark is the Executive Director. The Enterprise Zone has 5 major incentives...including credits for Employer hiring, sales and use tax credit and business expense deduction for certain property purchases.  Also available is a special net operating loss carryover and net interest deduction for lenders as well as special hiring incentives for hard to place employees.

The meeting ended with a recitation of the 4-way test.

Editor's Note:  Your Foundation Chair is waiting to hear from a small number of you who have not yet made your RI Foundation commitment.
