President Frank, with only one more meeting to go before retirement, finally had a "powerful" meeting. Our guests were Andrew Starke, owner of the Palm Springs Power baseball team and his manager, Tom Gamboa. More on this later...

There were no visiting Rotarians or guests so the President had more time to tell jokes (?) and to announce congratulations to the Lakers and to note that Adrian was the best dressed Rotarian at the Demotion Party. He also gave a big thank you to Diane Kelly and her crew, as well as her husband, Jim, for a job well done at the District Conference. In addition, our soon to be ex-president gave out his awards to those who couldn't attend the Demotion dinner including Robert Wilkinson (club secretary and RYLA), Jan and Andy Brakebill (speakers, fund raising and hosting Lisa Guy) and Joe LaMantia (PRYDE). 100% attendance pins were awarded to many of the members. Last, but not least, Rey Neufeld presented Paul Harris awards to Bruce Franklin, Greg Lane and Lee Osborne. (Reporter addition- nice job on the Demotion Party, especially to Walter Keating and Andy Lorenz--even an earthquake couldn't stop us from enjoying the frivolity, food and fun)

It was also announced that Lee Osborne is assuming the presidency of the La Quinta Chamber of Commerce and that Rod Vigue has been promoted and will assume a position in Riverside. You'll be missed, Rod, and best wishes on your new venture.

Mike Sutton had his number drawn for the raffle but he pulled a white ball from Robert's bag of tricks!

Jeff Wattenbarger was the surprise fine master and he did his usual fine job.

And finally...Tom Gamboa, who has been in baseball 36 years, including managing in the minors and a coach with the Cubs, Brewers, Royals and presently manager of the Power, gave an interesting and enjoyable talk on his baseball history.
