President Elect Dr. Bruce Underwood introduced our speaker today as Pastor Robert L. Cummings  or“Coach C”.  Robert has been married for 39 years to Cheryl and they have four children and 5 granddaughters.  He is the Co- Author of Focusing on your Dreams – 2006, U. S. Army Retired 26 Years / Chaplain Assistant 6 Years, NBA Chaplain for the Los Angeles Clippers 2004-2011, Inducted into the Marital Arts Hall of Fame 2010 – 40 Years and Athletic Director / Chaplain for the Indio SoCal Coyotes, America’s #1 Developmental Football Program for the NFL - 5 Time Champions – 2013-2018.

After a year in college Robert decided that he would join the military where he retired in 2000 after 26 years of service with his MOS (Military Occupational Service) being that of a Chaplain’s Assistant and where he learned that he was a leader who loves to make people happy.  After retirement from the military and a career that would make any Pastor jealous, it took Robert a while to “find his lane” and begin to realize his dream of helping the youth of the Coachella Valley.  To accomplish this Robert founded and currently directs The Total Youth Development Training Center.  His vision is to develop the spirit, soul and body of our children and to reestablish ethics, morals and values in our community one youth at a time.  Robert shared with us the challenges that he faced as a youth and the need for children to know that they are loved and supported by their parents as they grow up.  Today Robert is an inspirational and motivational speaker at school assemblies around the valley where he brings his message of hope and love… although it is oftentimes a message of “tough love”.

Robert was an excellent speaker and we are fortunate to have such a valuable member of our (Rotary) community actively working with our valley’s youth on a daily basis and having such an important impact on so many lives.  Thank you Robert for your commitment to the youth of our valley and for your “Service above Self”.  To learn more about Robert and the Total Youth Development Training Center please visit their website at:www.totalyouthdevelopment.org
