Taxes And You

The winter season is upon us we had a full house with visitors from far and near. Canada had the most visitors followed by Washington State, Utah and other areas that are cold and wet.

President Dan decided to open the meeting without a joke, which was greeted by applause from the members. Dan announced Ed Casey was out of the hospital and would be back amongst us soon. Allan Levin couldn't wait for his turn as fine master and admonished a loud table that wasn't listening to the meeting.

Many announcements were made from the floor. This is the busy season so let's all get involved.

Tour de Palm Springs is fast approaching Saturday, February 12th, sign up to ride and get your friends to ride, all monies go directly to our Club. Robert Wilkinson is working on RYLA and Joe La Mantia gave us an update on Pride.

Allan, AKA Dick Tracey for the day, had a field day recognizing member infractions ranging from too many lawyers at one table, visitors from Washington State sitting together and Wells Marvin promoting his new Restaurant in Old Town. Don't forget to check the club website before the meeting to be able to answer Alan's questions.

Our guest speaker, the Happy Yogi, was not able to untie himself from CalTrans traffic. In his stead, our own fearless Treasurer, Corry Hunter, became the program. He shared with us information from a recent course on the changes in the 2011 tax laws. From the extension of the Bush tax relief to nuances in the new regulations, Corry held everyone's attention. Corry certainly knows how to make tax laws entertaining.
